Where We Come From

We were born out of a simple conviction: our oceans and communities deserve a future free from waste. What started as local clean-ups has grown into a global mission to challenge the throwaway culture and build lasting alternatives.

Wastefree began with a simple idea: our planet deserves better than a throwaway culture. What started as small grassroots actions on polluted coastlines has grown into an international movement connecting communities, scientists, and activists across the globe.

We believe that waste is not inevitable — it is the result of choices. And by making better choices, together, we can turn the tide. From cleaning rivers and beaches, to challenging harmful policies, to supporting innovative alternatives, our mission is to cut plastic at its source and build systems that respect people and nature alike.

Our work combines local action with global impact. We partner with fishing villages, schools, and cities to create real change on the ground, while amplifying those voices in international debates where systemic decisions are made.
